The Feast of the Transfiguration
The Feast of the Transfiguration of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is one of the twelve major feasts on the Orthodox calendar and so all the resources we share today are related to this feast. The first is from Trisagion Films and is about the Icon of the Feast. Learn more about the symbols and meaning associated with the icon of the feast and hear about how through the Transfiguration we receive a glimpse of the Kingdom of God and an image of what we can become by grace.
Exploring the Feast
Our next video is from the Archdiocese’s new series “Exploring the Feasts of the Orthodox Church”. Watch and learn about the history and theology of the feast and listen to some of the related hymns from the services of that day as well as a discussion about theosis.
Transfiguration and Transformation
And finally, another episode from Be the Bee. In this episode, Steve Christoforou wonders who we think is being changed in the Transfiguration, Christ or His disciples? Watch the episode to discover the answer.
If you’d like to study this feast even further, we recommend this podcast by Fr. Thomas Hopko from Ancient Faith Radio: Transfiguration – The Center of the Evangelical Narrative.
We hope you have a blessed feast!
