A Church of Mysteries
We use the word “mystery” a lot in the Church. Because the Church itself is a mystery and not an idea to be grasped but a reality to be lived. As Steve Christoforou explains, it’s an invitation to each and every one of us to live in this mystery while constantly growing closer to God. Learn more about this in the following video from Be the Bee.
What is a Sacrament?
In this follow-up video to the one above, Steve answers the question as to whether sacraments are just symbols or ways to receive grace. He explains the meaning of the word symbol and mystery and speaks about how material creation – like water, oil, bread, and wine – can be for us a means of God’s revelation, presence, and power.
Descent as a Way of Meeting God
In our final video, Archimandrite Zacharias of the Holy Monastery of the Honorable Forerunner in Essex, England, explains how “descent” is a perfect way to meet God. As he explains, there’s only one school in the Gospel of Christ: the school of humility. If we take this humble path we will find Christ walking with us in our lives just as He did with Luke and Cleopas on the road to Emmaus.
