The Spiritual Heart
In our last post we learned about how God is someone we’re invited to encounter rather than just think of or talk about. Fr. Zacharias of the Holy Monastery of Saint John the Forerunner in Essex, England continues this discussion in the following video about the spiritual heart. The heart – the inner person and center of our personality – is where we encounter God. Fr. Zacharias explains how the aim of our Christian life is to unite our intellect with our heart because then we are healed, then we are whole and can turn to God with our entire being. Watch as he discusses three of the ways in which the Lord invites us to encounter Him.
The Jesus Prayer
As mentioned above, one of the ways in which the Lord invites us to encounter Him is through His holy name, such as in the practice of the Jesus Prayer.
