What good is anything the Strategic Plan creates if it is unable to communicate the good work of all those involved in this great Metropolis effort?
Communication has been the single biggest problem in all areas of our Orthodox life from the Archdiocese on down to our parishes. Communication must have a two-way access (going out and coming back) for it to thrive. Otherwise it is just an announcement. This was the challenge for our Communications Committee.
The first step was to establish the position of a Communications Director (3.3) to open the lanes of communication to and from the parishes. This was the first of the 34 goals that was completed and has become center of distribution for our Strategic Plan. Our Communications Director is Zoe Kafkes (404-634-9345 ext. 117).
The next two steps are also important for the fulfillment of our communications development. The Strategic Plan Communications Goal (3.1) Is preparing for their pre-IHQ review. Once approved by the IHQ, we will have an on-going status report of the 34 Strategic Goals that will be available on our web site and delivered to parishes via our Parish Champions. The final goal, Metropolis Communications (3.2) is still in progress and scheduled for completion by June. This goal will establish a true network for Communications between the Metropolis and all its parishes.
